Charlotte Church Album Launch Party

Charlotte Church stunned a capacity crowd last night with a spectacular sci-fi show – complete with futuristic costumes controlled by the audience; bubble machines and mind-blowing UV light show – to launch her forthcoming release, FOUR. The Welsh legend pulled out all the stops with her multi-sensory party and performance at London’s Riverside Studios, to celebrate the release of her ambitious new release FOUR, out on March 10th. The event – called “Entanglement” after FOUR’S lead track and the scientific theory it was inspired by – had a jaw-dropping finale surrounding the theme, which saw Charlotte wearing an elaborate, glowing skirt attached to giant tentacles of flashing LED lights, which wrapped around the entire audience. To ensure the crowd was immersed in the scientific inspirations behind FOUR, Charlotte treated all audience members to UV make-up and glowing accessories as they entered the event, so that they shone beneath her extraordinary neon light installation. And she was joined by the critically-acclaimed London Contemporary Voices choir, who were also made-up in striking neon makeup which blazed beneath her light show, while huge machines pumped the air full of bubbles. She performed tracks from FOUR – which has received glowing reviews – as well as a haunting Elliott Smith cover and hits from the previous three EPs of her ambitious, five-part series. Charlotte – who also treated guests to goodies including signed copies of the album – said: “It’s like a cartoon, big and bright and colourful, but it’s also a product of us pushing what we can do and pushing the boundaries when we’re performing live.” Photos courtesy of Guy Bell and Lorna Newman.
