Guy Ritchie Speaks About Madonna’s Failed Adoption

It’s being reported that just hours after a judge dismissed Madonna’s request to adopt Mercy James, another child from Malawi, Guy Ritchie issued a statement praising the singer as a “great mum” who is driven by the desire to be a good parent. He added that he hopes she will try to adopt again in the future. The statement read,

“Madonna is a fantastic and loving mother who cares deeply about her own children, and children who may need additional help and support. I fully supported Madonna in her decision to apply for this adoption, and I am saddened that her application has been rejected. She is motivated only by being a caring parent who seeks to share some of the advantages and opportunities that her life has given her. This time it did not work out, but there will be other opportunities and I wish her well in them. She is a great mum.”

Madonna’s application was rejected by judge Esme Chombo of the Lilongwe High Court. The judge stated that an adoption could not be allowed to anyone who was not a resident of Malawi, noting that Madonna hd jetted in just days prior to the hearing. Madonna did not attend the hearing. However, her lawyer did, and left through a back exit upon hearing the ruling.
