Howard K. Stern Mugshot Goodness

You know, the fact that she’s still in the news more than two years after her death really says something about Anna Nicole Smith. She’s still missed by celeb followers of my ilk, which is why I’m happy to hear that charges are being brought against the people who helped her die. Namely, famewhore and all-around sleazebag Howard K. Stern.

Attorney Howard K. Stern and physician Sandeep Kapoor were booked at the Whittier Police Department at 8:27 p.m. and 7:13 p.m., respectively. Both men were booked on warrants by the California Attorney General’s Office and released on $20,000 bail at 9:15 p.m. Kapoor and Stern, along with doctor Khristine Eroshevich, were charged with conspiring to furnish drugs to Anna Nicole Smith prior to her death in 2007. Three conspiracy charges and eight other felony counts naming the defendants were also filed filed this afternoon in a felony complaint for arrest warrant. The conspiracy counts alleged that the three defendants conspired to furnish controlled substances to Anna Nicole Smith.

Kapoor and Stern were charged with one count of unlawfully prescribing a controlled substance (sidenote: I didn’t realize attorneys could even prescribe drugs in the first place…oh wait, maybe that’s why he’s sitting in a jail cell right now). Kapoor and Eroshevich each were charged with one count of obtaining a prescription for opiates by “fraud, deceit or misrepresentation.” Each was also charged with one count of obtaining a prescription for opiates by giving a false name or address. Kapoor and Stern were charged with one count of “prescribing, administering or dispensing a controlled substance to an addict.” Eroshevich was charged with the same crime in a separate count.

I can only hope that justice will be served swiftly.
